Naam: Paul Jay
Geboren: 31 december 1947, te Londen
Programma: Granny’s Magic Bicycle
I was born in London, England on the last day of 1947. On leaving school I began work at Heathrow Airport, London as an Air Traffic Control Assistant and later transferred to the Eurocontrol organization in a similar capacity but where we are now called Flight Data Specialists.
Despite being an old devil I have a reasonably young female family: a step-daughter (Maja) born in 1985 and Shari, born in 1996. Even the wife is young!!
It was in 1967 that I realized that there was an alternative to the popular music that I was hearing on the radio each day and so I started buying music by The Doors, Love, and Captain Beefheart, plus many others. The alternative sound is still my great musical love but, I have to admit, that I am getting a little out of touch these days. In 1980 I started doing voluntary programming for the Canadian Forces Network in Brunssum and even ran the station as Programme Director for a while. By October of 2004 it was decided by the station management that syndicated programmes would be more popular with the listening audience and thus I gave way to Casey Kasem – and he’s 15 years older than me!!
I joined Falcon in November 2004 and now present an oldies programme, in English, on Thursday evenings called “Granny’s Magic Bicycle” – a stupid name perhaps, but very 1960s don’t you think? Why not join me to hear music dating all the way back to the 20s! I look forward to your company.
